Babe wake up! It’s the first of the month!
Hello, lovely people of this blog!
It has been a long time since I posted. The truth is, I find it hard to write, and more than that post my writing…unless it is a big and grand moment in my life.
These moments of heightened emotion are when I find it the easiest to express myself. I do not want that to be the case for forever.
This October I will post one blog post every day, for the entirety of the month.
Why?
I hope that in this writing challenge I can develop my writing muscle, and encourage myself to share more and share often.
If I limit or time my expression to match the peaks of emotion, instead of simply exercising the muscle of writing and sharing that writing, I feel like I will rely on moments of drama or emotion to further my reach as a writer.
I would like to write well no matter my emotional state.
But before claiming the title of writer, I want to claim the title of reader.
I often forget just how much of my time as a child was spent with my nose in a book. It didn’t matter which genre, if the book could take me away to far and distant lands with the power of written word then trust that my nose was IN THERE.
When I have my own kids I want reading (and writing) to be as fundamental and pivotal of an experience for them as it was for me.
The amount of journals I collected growing up is kind of crazy. I would also save the journals to be used in special moments moments only (once again with the emotional peaks validating expression and consumption).
My goal for this month is to make writing, and sharing it, feel as accessible as reading feels to me. I enjoy engaging with the things I create but I also get embarrassed of these things, with no consistency and to varying degrees of shame.
I hope to look back at the end of this month and smile at what I created and what I documented, regardless of the cringe.
Most of all, I want to smile upon what I was able to share about my human experience on this plane of existence & in this moment in time.
Join me? I would love to have you by my side for this journey.
p. s. sorry for the subpar first post, tbf I was going to go to bed and then remembered the promise I kept to myself :3
p. p. s. tomorrows post may be better but I’m finding that the most realistic thing I can do is promise consistency in showing up, not HOW I show up :33333333333
